2012 Shrewsbury Annual Town Meeting Election
- Ø Informational Meeting Monday March 5th.
- Ø Voting - Tuesday March 6, 2012. from 10 AM to 7 PM at the Shrewsbury Community Meeting House
- Ø Early Voting and Absentee Ballots available after February 5th
This year you have an extra day if you are not registered to vote. February 29th 5:00 PM is the deadline to register to vote for the 2012 Annual Town Meeting. The Clerk's office will be open till 5:00 PM to collect and process applications.
January 26th is the last day to file petitions signed by at least fine percent (5%) of voters with the Town Clerk for articles to be included in Town Meeting warning. V.S.A. 17§ 2642(a). In Shrewsbury, 5% = 45 Voters.
January 30th 5:00 PM is the deadline for filing with the Town Clerk nominating petitions for town offices to be voted on by Australian Ballot. V.S.A. 17 § 2681(a). In Shrewsbury petitions require 1% of the legal voters or nine (9) signatures.
Dog Licenses
2012 Dog Licenses will be available after January 1st. In Vermont you must have your dog licensed by April 1st to avoid a late fee. Male / Female $12.00 or Neutered / Spayed $8.00. 23 V.S.A. § 1126a. Depositing snow onto or across certain highways prohibited
(a) No person, other than an employee in the performance of his or her official duties or other person authorized by the agency of transportation (in the case of state highways) or selectboard (in the case of town highways), shall plow or otherwise deposit snow onto the traveled way, shoulder or sidewalk of a state highway or a class 1, 2, or 3 town highway.
(b) Nothing in this section should be construed to be in derogation of any municipal ordinance regulating the deposit of snow within the limits of town highways. (Added 1997, No. 150 (Adj. Sess.), § 17.)

DOG TAGS
Vermont state statute 20 V.S.A. § 3581 states that any dog or wolf hybrid older than six months is to be registered annually by the Town Clerk.
2012 Dog Tags will be available after January 1, 2012.
Dogs are to be registered prior to April 1st.
To register your dog, please bring your current Rabies Vaccination paperwork. Dog licenses are $8.00 for Spayed or Neutered otherwise $12.00. After April 1st, a late fee is charged
Please keep your pet safe, register them at the Town office or by mail and make sure they wear their tags.
